Feist makes people wanna prance. Not just dance, but prance. This happened when I was at my friend Connors house. Listen to "I feel it all" and not prance. I dare you.

Totally prance worthy.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays/New Years!

Work Sketches 2

Sketching while playblasting. I've been looking at Claire Wendling's Stuff a lot lately. Making a piece inspired by her. Hopefully it turns out amazing, and one day I'll be 15% as awesome as her.

Watching Movies

I kind of want to do a few comics about movies that I've re-watched/watched recently.

Here's a quick one I did about UP. (an hour to finish/draw/color)

Great movie MINUS that chunklet.

Work Sketches

Work has left me drained as of late. I forgot how very frustrating slow computers/maya can be when you're trying to animate. I am very spoiled with my home compy.

Anyways, I can't really talk about what I'm working on, just that it's a game, pretty popular and it has a guy with a beard that looks a little like this (except way more bad ass):

And here is a sketch for when ever maya takes a crap on your dreams:

And finally the main character from a comic I drew for this one site. It took me a while to finish but it's the first long comic I have ever made so, milestone either way:

Hope you enjoy. :)

The Ringling 100

I forgot to mention, but everyone should shell out the almost $50 and buy The Ringling 100 book. It was put together by a few friends of mine to raise scholarship money for Ringling College students. It is a book that compiles 100 artworks from Ringling Alumni and current students into a nice ans shiny (and really glossy) book. All of the works were judged by a panel of 4 artists (including the very awesome and inspiring Deborah Healey- Former Disney, Current Ringling Concept Teacher/Champion and Kathy Alteri - Dreamworks Diva).I was lucky enough to get picked amongst the other 99 amazing works. Most of the kids on my links have a drawing in the book so even if you don't like my work personally, think about owning a chunklet of Lindsey Olivares or Greg Peltz!

Here is a link to it online if you would like to preview it.

All proceedes go to Ringling scholarships and not even a nugget is touched for other purposes. :)

Project 2

I'm almost done with the line art for this project. After that it's off to colors. Should be fun. Hopefully.

I'm working on a side "thing" if you will. I can post some chunklets of it so here are some roughs I can show.

Please to enjoy!

Pirate Vs Burglar

Work in progress but the burglar is winning this one, thanks in part to hooks. They aren't as useful as much as they are a killer fashion statement.

Comic 2

Made another silly comic. I'm trying to improve art wise and speed wise. And a little crazy wise. :)

Written and drawn by me staring myself and Nilah.

Please to enjoy.

Quick Comic

My friend and I are throwing each other scripts to make into comics. This was her story and I illustrated it. Quickly I might add, but I'm trying to be faster/loose-er but still decent.

Please to enjoy :)

Quick doodle and color. Trying out new brushes.

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

I redid my website since the old one was about 2 years old. Thought it needed a little bit of a change.

I am a huge bird lover. I don't actually like touching them because they're full of horrible horrible diseases, but, I like to LOOK at them.

They walk weird, they have weird eyes and head movements, but, then they fly and BOOM ,super graceful. It's like looking at a dog walk. They don't bend their legs so it's really awkward, but watch them run and its poetry.

That being said, at home, there are lots of birds since I live quite a ways outside of LA. Bunnies and birds as far as the eye can see. And I usually love looking at them and sketching them:

The downside though... is that THIS happens:

Crafty bastards.

Roger Rabbit

I'm part of a blog made up of kids who go to/went to Ringling. This b-weekly theme was to re-design a character and I chose Roger Rabbit. He was a HUGE inspiration for me as an animator and just making me want to make things funny. Mainly because if HE can get a smoking hot wife, maybe I could too. Even at 3 I had huge hopes.

I think this is more what would happen to someone playing him after a few years.

I love mascots. They creep me out and make me sad, but I love the IDEA of someone having to be a character in a super hot sweaty and cramped suit for minimum wage.

Quick sketch and colors. Hour tops.

So, I've been lazy/looking for a paying job, hence the lack of webcomic related nuggets.

I do, however have the site up and semi-running. Comicpress<3

I want to finish up the like... 10 pages of comics I have sketched out and post them on the site. If anyone knows how to mess with comic press(IE adding a previous, next button) I would greatly appreciate it.

Feel free to see.

Another self portrait of sorts? I was trying out a new brush in photoshoppe then I tried out a new color style. Then doodles. Then.... voila?

Please to enjoy. It was a fun and quick sketch.

I saw this one commercial for a new woman's razor with trimming addition. It had women walking around bushes that would change shapes. I wonder what the intended usage for them were?

Needless to say, and slap on the face advertising aside, I came up with this. And then laughed.

Project Runway

The finale just aired and, although I really don't care about fashion, I love the show. The designs are artful and it's just the right amount of camp for me.

Heidi Klum, however, is a robot. Tim Gunn, on the other hand, is amazing.

I saw How To Train Your Dragon for the third time. Finally dragged my mom to see it so we could both cry like little girls/pansies.

Now everywhere I go I see stuff like this:

Everyone, see that movie. Three/four times.

Thursday, April 22, 2010

I want to do a self portrait series on yoga and numbers. Thought I would start it off with my age. Well, my age as of midnight tonight. Happy b-day to me and strike a pose.

Monday, April 19, 2010

Ive been sketching a lot lately. A friend of a friend helped me out with some art related performances so he got me to go ahead and draw. Not 8 hrs a day like he wants but soon/close. :)

Sunday, April 4, 2010

The second episode is up. I have to look at the site every day to see if they uploaded it because since I've turned in my last boards they don't let me know. Out of my hands for now but it's still pretty awesome that I got to work on something so silly and mine. :)

Please to enjoy! (my favorite joke I've ever thought of made it in the episode. Hint: small tp.) Also, it's interesting to see how it changes from my storyboards to the production company. (The burp being something not of my personal humor but it made my dad laugh.)

Monday, March 29, 2010

I saw it twice this weekend. My friends Greg Hettinger and Liron Topaz work at Dreamworks and got me into a screening there. The movie raised the bar on everything. Including my hopes and dreams.

On Sunday, in Alhambra, there was a panel at a gallery whose speakers were the heads of different departments on Dragons. Simon Otto, Animation Head, Alessandro Cortini, Story Head, Pierre-Olivier Vincent, Art Director and Nicolas Marlet, Character designer. Needless to say, team Euro won at life with this movie. They showed clips, storyboards, designs, sequences, blocking and talked about the movie and making it. Super interesting stuff and just made me feel both excited that I work/want to work in this industry and so very young and unskilled when looking at these bad asses.

I sketched during the talk, Simon Otto was my favorite to draw because he was really just a rectangle with a gotee. Nicolas Marlet was kind of shy and in a corner so I felt like he wouldn't want someone to sketch him. I just did a circle with a hat and circles under its eyes. I think thats as much as I got to see from my seat without being obvious.

Here are some of my favorites.

When i just got there:

I didn't know how to spell Piere-Olivere Vincent so I left it blank...

Simon Otto came out more like my friend James Martinchek... Maybe not so easy to draw...

Alessandro was dreamy.

Piere-Olivere spoke with the best accent and he was so very sassy.

I went to the doctor this week and they had to remove a birth mark. No problem, I thought. I'm tough. I can do this.

I can. But apparently I'm way more squemish than I thought possible. I have to clean out the stitches everyday. Which means TOUCHING the stitches. Touching them... icky. I almost feinted just because it was icky. Pansy, thy name is Alex. This drawing sums up my dread. It really isn't even an inch long. But it's enough. Ugh... ::shiver::

It's so cool to see!!

Please to enjoy!

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

A drawing I did of a guy on a motorcycle. Once I color it in I'll post the process. I've been following a blog where they have monthly themes. Really cool and great inspiration for this one. :)

Please to enjoy!

More Storyboards

More boards that I did for the cookie show. It SHOULD be coming out soon but it's no longer in my hands. It is in the hands of a company in Burbank to animate my cookies. God speed Burbank. God speed.

Episode Three Boards

Episode Four Boards

Episode Five Boards

Should have 6 up soon enough. I like making the cookies squirm it seems. And that rascal Chewy. When will he learn.

Please to enjoy.
